Diane’s Story: Finding a Job that Changed my Life!

November 17, 2017 by

“I look forward to coming to work each day. I love the people I work with and seeing the end result of my work at the end of the day puts a smile on my face.”

Before coming to Pathways, I was overwhelmed with stress from trying to make ends meet. Raising 3 boys as a single mom on Ontario Works and trying to provide the best for them was a daily struggle. I did volunteer work and had some cleaning jobs on the side, but it wasn’t enough to make ends meet.

I was referred to Pathways by my Ontario Works caseworker, and decided to take the PMT Course. At that point in my life I was shy, nervous and quiet. My goal was to get a full-time cleaning job that would support my family, so PMT was the perfect fit.

I absolutely loved the course! The two months in the course gave me great experiences and showed me that I am capable of anything. It was a great learning experience, and after I was offered a job at Clean Works!

Today, 4 years later, I still work for Clean Works full time. For me it is the perfect job. I look forward to coming into work every day. I love the people I work with – everyone is awesome, and seeing the result of my work at the end of the day puts a smile on my face.

Dianne’s Advice

Don’t give up. The staff at Pathways care about you and your success. They are always there to help you with whatever you need. My second piece of advice is Hire Clean Works! We have many services that we can tailor to your site’s needs. To the many companies who already hire Clean Works – Thank you for making my job possible!

Dianne’s Key Takeaway

A key lesson I learned was that when you’re stuck in life there are solutions and people who care. The PMT course gave me the inspiration I needed!

My Favourite Inspirational Quote:

“Laughter Is The Best Medicine”

“At the start of the PMT course Dianne was timid and didn’t say much, but as the course went on she gained more and more confidence After graduation she secured a position at Clean Works and has been with us for almost 4 years. We have had some companies mention that they wouldn’t want anyone else cleaning their facility because Dianne does such a good job. You will always see a smile on Dianne’s face. She is a very positive, dependable and hardworking member of our team – and it wouldn’t be the same without her. ” Becky Strong, Director of Clean Works
